LGA ELECTIONS: PASTOR VICTOR AGBULA CALLS FOR FAIRNESS FROM DSIEC AND ENCOURAGES OPPOSITION TO CONTEST

Pastor Victor Agbula Igbole, the UDU LGA Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has urged members and leadership of the party in Delta State to actively participate in the upcoming local government elections. He also called on the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) to ensure a fair and level playing field for all parties, without favoritism towards the ruling party.

Pastor Victor Agbula made these remarks after the Delta Central meeting of the Social Democratic Party, which took place in the Udu Local Government Area. He stated that the belief that the LGA elections are one-sided is illogical and fallacious.

"The Local Government Council elections have been officially declared, and I take this opportunity to encourage all patriotic Deltans in the SDP who have an interest in their local government to contest," said Pastor Victor Agbula. "Delta State belongs to all of us, and everyone has a right to be involved in the administration of the state at all levels. The local government is the grassroots and the most important component for development, so it should not be left solely to members of the ruling party as a selection process."

The SDP UDU LGA Chairman also emphasized the importance of fairness and a level playing field in the electoral process. He urged the leadership of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission to ensure that every candidate is given equal rights and privileges.

"The Delta State Independent Electoral Commission has a significant responsibility and must uphold its name and integrity. The resources being utilized for the elections are meant for all Deltans, regardless of their political affiliations. Therefore, the commission must maintain fairness and equity, ensuring a level playing field for all political parties and their candidates."

In conclusion, Pastor Agbula stated that the wealth of the state is at stake in the LGA elections, and the SDP will unite to present a strong showing. He commended the party's leadership for offering nomination forms free of charge.

"The wealth of the state is what we are contesting to administer on behalf of the people. Therefore, the SDP family will rally together for the LGA elections as a preparation for the next general elections. I commend the state leadership of the party for making the nomination forms free of charge. However, we must engage in the elections based on the available resources and for the betterment of Deltans," added the former Student Union President.
