"Gubernatorial Candidate Offers Condolences and Urges Safety Measures After Tragic Tanker Explosion in Delta State"


Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, FNIM, OON, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the March 18th, 2023 election in Delta State, has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of a fatal tanker explosion that occurred at Ugbenu, Koko Junction, in the state. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, October 1st, 2023, claimed the lives of five people who were scooping fuel, and caused extensive damage to vehicles and other property. 



In a statement released on Monday, October 2nd, 2023, Gbagi described the tragedy as a regrettable and unfortunate development. He expressed his sympathy for the families of the deceased and assured them that he and the SDP mourn with them during this difficult time. 




Gbagi also called on the governments of the state and country to do more to ensure the safety of its citizens, and urged people to refrain from the dangerous activity of scooping fuel from fallen tankers. The former Minister of State for Education stressed that such practices should be avoided at all times to prevent similar tragedies from occurring.
